7 Easy and Effective Diet Tips for College Students!


The hectic schedule and the busy lives of college students often has negative effects on their food intake methods. Skipping meals, frequently visiting fast food joints or over/under-eating due to stress are some of them. 
A healthy and a balanced diet is very important for everyone. It helps us feel better and perform well in our day-to-day activities! It really isn't that hard to get started, following are few tips to help you maintain your diet:

1. Eat a good breakfast

Breakfast is necessary for everyone. When there isn't time to sit down and enjoy your morning meal, grab a bagel, piece of a fruit and some juice. Most of these items can easily stored in your residence hall.

2. Keep healthy snacks on hands

If you don't get time to take meal then take some dried fruits with you in your pockets . It will be nutritious for you. If hunger strikes during late night studies then some fruits, popcorn or peanuts , rice cakes etc are some of the best options.

3. Eat plenty of food rich in calcium

People in their twenties need to store calcium in their body. If you don't like milk , then in it's place you can include green leafy vegetables, or milk products like low fat cheese or low fat yogurt in your diet.

4. Limit your sugar intake

Sugar provides calories in your diet but it also harms your teeth and leads to tooth decay so try to use it sparingly and consider sweetening tea ,coffee and fruits with sweeteners instead.

5. Visit the dining hall salad bar 

Leafy greens, raw vegetables and fresh fruits are beneficial. Creamy dressings , bacon bits and mayonnaise based salads contains calories which are equal to burger or fries, so choose wisely!

6. Limit your alcohol intake
If you drink alcohol ,keep in mind that it supplies calories but not nutritious values. A light beer, a glass of wine or an ounce of liquor contains about 100 calories . There may also be health problems associated with drinking alcohol .

7. Drink lots of water
 Your body needs atleast eight glasses of water a day and if you exercise vigorously, you may need more . Always keep a water bottle with you, it may come in handy during late night study sessions.
