Pikachu is getting renamed, and fans are protesting!

Our favorite cartoon character Pikachu, the marvelous yellow Pokemon is getting renamed, people of Hong Kong are protesting.

Hong kongers has refused to accept its new name “Pikaqiu” pronunciation would be like “Bei-ka-Jau” in Cantonese. It was the decision of Pokemon Company to change its Japanese name to Chinese name. Hong kongers fans felt insulted by this absurd decision. They used to call it “Pikachu” as “Bei-ka-Chiu”, which is a combination of Pikapika in Japanese, deep meaning of sparkle.

One of the protester, who didn’t recognize company’s decision said “it’s hard to believe it will be changed… we just want our local name back”. They all claimed it an absurd replacement, will not respect this foolish decision and want their favorite character back. Their many childhood memories are ruined.

More than 6000 Hong-kongers signed a petition form to get back their previous Pikachu name and sent to Japan’s Nintendo management. In last few days, at most 20 people stood in Hong Kong’s street and offended its new name, which sounds somewhat ridiculous, isn’t it “Pikaqiu”?
